SubWars

Awesome (and slightly disturbing) short animation entitled "SubWars"

Today's lesson? Always give your seat to the elderly (especially if they have lightsabers)

Bottom of the Ninth

This looks amazing. An animated graphic novel for the iPad/iPhone by animator artist Ryan Woodward.

Definitely going to be buying this!

Skhizein - short film

I originally saw this short, a few years back, but it was sent around at work today so I thought I'd share.

Entitled "Skhizein" by Jeremy Clapin

Reverse Key Lighting

Evan Richards website is great for anybody interested in cinematography. His posts cover entire movies in screenshots and are a great source on information. It's amazing to look at.

His post on reverse key lighting is just as informative. If you're into lighting or photography or film, Evan talks about how versatile this technique can be, even in CG.

McGurk Effect

Interesting video about visual speech information, and the illusion of the "McGurk Effect" and that what we see over rides what we hear.

It'll have you hearing "BAH...BAH...BAH" for the rest of the day

Tron: Uprising

Really looking forward to this. Been a huge fan of the original Tron since a little kid and loved Tron Legacy (music and all).

Thanks to Spungella for posting it.

How Musician's Communicate Emotion

Interesting article and video about how emotion is communicated through music and how people find the most expressive versions to be the music that has variations in timing, and loudness and softness.

It can relate to animation as well, as sometimes the most interesting animations to watch have the same type of variations.

Thanks to "Spying for Lying" for posting this:

Dexter's Lab - The Big Cheese

Genndy Tartakovsky's Dexter's Lab was great, and as we're working on his feature, classic episodes like this one from 1996 are shared around the office. I love it's visual style, like the tires on the car, or the sister's bent backwards pose at 2:47.

Omelette du Fromage!

Enjoy!
